Troubleshooting
'96 - 99 Models (cont'd)
The picture is missing a color or tone
RGB color check:
1. Perform the start-up proce-
dure for Picture Diagnosis
(see page
).
2. Touch the Monitor Check but-
ton then press the RGB Color
).
Are the Red, Green, and Blue
colored circles shown?
Touch the return button. Touch
the color change button, then
touch the Default button to restore
the standard color settings.
YES
NO
Check for an open in the RGB
signal line:
1. Turn the ignition switch off.
2. Disconnect navigation unit
connector A (20P), and the
display unit connector (20P).
3. Check for continuity terminals
between the navigation unit
connector A (20P) and the dis-
play unit connector (20P).
Is there continuity?
NO
YES
There is an open in the circuit
between the navigation unit and
the display unit. Replace the
affected shielded harness.
Check for a short to body ground
in the RGB signal line:
Check for continuity between
terminals of the navigation unit
connector A (20P).
Is there continuity?
NO
Replace the navigation unit.
YES
There is a short to ground in the
circuit between the navigation
unit and the display unit. Replace
the affected shielded harness.

Display unit buttons do not work
Check for an open in the power
source circuit:
1. Turn the ignition switch ON
(II).
2. Measure the voltage between
body ground and the display
unit connector (20P) terminal
No. 1 and No. 2 individually.
Is there battery voltage?
NO
Repair open in the wire between
the under-hood (or under-dash)
fuse/relay box and display unit.
Check for an open in the GND
circuit:
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Check for continuity between
the display unit connector
(20P) terminal No. 10 and
body ground.
Is there continuity?
NO
• Repair open in the wire between
the display unit and body
ground.
• Repair poor ground (G251).
Check the DISPLAY BUS circuit:
1. Disconnect the navigation
unit and display unit connec-
tors.
2. Check for continuity between
the display unit connector
(20P) terminal No. 5 and the
navigation unit connector A
(20P) terminal No. 4. There
should be continuity.
3. Check for continuity between
the display unit connector
(20P) terminal No. 15 and the
navigation unit connector A
(20P) terminal No. 14. There
should be continuity.
4. Check for continuity between
the same terminals and body
ground. There should be no
continuity.
YES
Are all checks OK?
YES
Replace the display unit.
NO
There is an open or short to body
ground between the display unit
and the navigation unit. Replace
the affected shielded harness.

Satellite mark in the GPS mark is not indicated
Check for accessories:
Check for electronic aftermarket
accessories mounted near the GPS
antenna or the navigation unit
Disable the accessories and
recheck.
Are there any electronic
accessories?
NO
YES
Picture diagnosis:
Perform the NAVI ECU check
under picture diagnosis (see
page
).
Is "NG" indicated?
NO
• Check that nothing is blocking
the GPS antenna located under
the package shelf.
• Recheck where nothing can
block the GPS satellite signal.
Repair as indicated by the NAVI
ECU check.

Audio driving instructions can't be heard
Check the audio driving instruc-
tions set up:
1. Push the MENU key.
2. Check the audio driving instruc-
tions volume setting.
Is it set to OFF?
Set the volume to an audible
level.
YES
NO
Check the AUDIO GU circuit:
1. Disconnect the navigation unit
and audio unit connectors.
2. Check for continuity between
the audio unit connector C
(12P) terminal No. 4 and the
navigation unit connector A
(20P) terminal No. 7. There
should be continuity.
3. Check for continuity between
the audio unit connector C
(12P) terminal No. 4 and body
ground. There should be no
continuity.
Is the circuit OK?
YES
NO
There is an open or short to body
ground between the audio unit
and the navigation unit. Replace
the affected shielded harness.
Check the audio unit:
Substitute a known-good audio
unit and recheck.
Is the system OK?
NO
Replace the navigation unit.
Replace the audio unit.
YES
