'00 - 01 Models (cont'd)
Car Status
Use the car status screen to check each signal.
If the indication does not match the actual vehicle status, check the applica-
ble signal line.
• VSP (vehicle speed pulse indication)
OFF when vehicle is not moving
ON when vehicle is moving
• BACK (reverse indication)
OFF when shift lever is in any position other than reverse
ON when shift lever is in reverse
• CHG (charging indication)
ON when engine is running and alternator is charging
OFF when engine is off or alternator is not charging
• ILL (illumination indication)
OFF when parking lights or headlights are off
ON when parking lights or headlights are on
When any item is NG, replace the navigation unit.
This screen is for manufacture's use only.

Yaw Rate
"SENSOR" indicates the voltage output from the yaw rate sensor. It should
indicate 1.500 to 3.500 V with the vehicle stopped.
NOTE: Do not try to tune the yaw rate sensor unless instructed to by
American Honda.

Troubleshooting
'96 - 99 Models
No picture is shown on the display
Check the +B fuse:
Check the BACK UP/RADIO (7.5 A)
fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay
box.
Is the fuse OK?
Replace the fuse and recheck.
NO
NOTE: Reinstall the fuse if it is OK.
YES
Check the ACC fuse:
Check the ACC/RADIO (10 A) fuse
in the under-dash fuse/relay box.
Is the fuse OK?
NO
Replace the fuse and recheck.
NOTE: Reinstall the fuse if it is OK.
YES
Check for an open in the power
source circuit:
1. Turn the ignition switch ON
(II).
2. Measure the voltage between
body ground and the naviga-
tion unit connector B (8P) termi-
nal No. 1 and No. 2 individually.
NAVIGATION UNIT CONNECTOR B (8P)
Wire side of female terminals
Repair open in the wire between
the under-hood (or under-dash)
fuse/relay box and navigation
unit.
Is there battery voltage?
NO
YES
Check for an open in the GND
circuit:
Check for continuity between the
navigation unit connector B (8P)
terminal No. 4 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
NO
• Repair open in the wire between
the navigation unit and body
ground.
• Repair poor ground (G603).
YES
Forced starting of display:
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Perform forced starting of dis-
).
Is the diagnosis menu of the
picture diagnosis displayed?
YES
Perform the system links.
NO

Check the picture:
Check that the black picture is
displayed (only back light is ON).
Is the black picture displayed?
Does the voltage pulse O V
to approx. 5 V?
NOTE: To check, shield the display unit from
the sun with your hand.
Replace the navigation unit.

Wire side of female terminals
NO
There is an open or short to body
ground between the display unit
and the navigation unit. Replace
the affected shielded harness.
Replace the navigation unit.
Check the DISPLAY BUS circuit:
1. Disconnect the navigation
unit and display unit connec-
tors.
2. Check for continuity between
the display unit connector
(20P) terminal No. 5 and the
navigation unit connector A
(20P) terminal No. 4. There
should be continuity.
3. Check for continuity between
the display unit connector
(20P) terminal No. 15 and the
navigation unit connector A
(20P) terminal No. 14. There
should be continuity.
4. Check for continuity between
the same terminals and body
ground. There should be no
continuity.
Are all checks OK?
Check the DISPLAY BUS Signal:
1. Reconnect the navigation unit
connector A (20P).
2. Check for voltage between
body ground and the display
unit connector (20P) terminals
No. 5 and No. 15 individually.
YES
Replace the display unit.
YES
NO
