TROUBLESHOOTING
MULTIPORT FUEL INJECTION (MPI) <4A9>

STEP 15. Connector check: A-114 engine-ECU
connector or engine-CVT-ECU connector
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES :
Check and repair harness between A-106
(terminal No. 4) manifold absolute pressure
sensor connector and A-114 (terminal No.
33) engine-ECU connector or
engine-CVT-ECU connector.
• Check earthing line for damage.
NO :
Repair or replace the connector.
STEP 16. Perform voltage measurement at A-106
manifold absolute pressure sensor connector.
• Use special tool test harness (MB991709) to con-
nect connector, and measure at pick-up harness.
• Ignition switch: ON
• Voltage between terminal No. 1 and earth.
OK:
Altitude 0m: 3.8
− 4.2 V
Altitude 600m: 3.5
− 3.9 V
Altitude 1,200m: 3.3
− 3.7 V
Altitude 1,800m: 3.0
− 3.4 V
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES :
Go to Step 19 .
NO :
Go to Step 17 .

STEP 17. Connector check: A-114 engine-ECU
connector or engine-CVT-ECU connector
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES :
Go to Step 18 .
NO :
Repair or replace the connector.
STEP 18. Check harness between A-106 (terminal
No. 1) manifold absolute pressure sensor
connector and A-114 (terminal No. 17)
engine-ECU connector or engine-CVT-ECU
connector.
• Check output line for short circuit and damage.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES :
Replace manifold absolute pressure sensor.
NO :
Repair the damaged harness wire.

STEP 19. Perform voltage measurement at A-114
engine-ECU connector or engine-CVT-ECU
connector.
• Disconnect engine-ECU connector or
engine-CVT-ECU connector, and connect special
tool power tool plant ECU check harness
(MB991987), and then measure the voltage on
the check connector.
• Ignition switch: ON
• Voltage between terminal No. 17 and earth.
OK:
Altitude 0m: 3.8
− 4.2 V
Altitude 600m: 3.5
− 3.9 V
Altitude 1,200m: 3.3
− 3.7 V
Altitude 1,800m: 3.0
− 3.4 V
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES :
Go to Step 21 .
NO :
Go to Step 20 .
STEP 20. Connector check: A-114 engine-ECU
connector or engine-CVT-ECU connector
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES :
Check and repair check harness between
A-106 (terminal No. 1) manifold absolute
pressure sensor connector and A-114
(terminal No. 17) engine-ECU connector or
engine-CVT-ECU connector.
• Check output line for open circuit and
damage.
NO :
Repair or replace the connector.
