Acura RL (1996-2004 year). Manual — part 376
The scan tool indicates Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1128: Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) lower than
expected.
— The MIL has been reported on.
— DTC P1128 is stored.
Problem verification:
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Check the MAP with the scan
tool.
Is 54.1 kPa (406 mmHg, 16.0
in.Hg) or higher indicated?
Intermittent failure, system is OK
at this time.
The scan tool indicates Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1129: Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) higher than
expected.
Is 43.3 kPa (325 mmHg, 12.8
in.Hg) or less indicated?
Intermittent failure, system is OK
at this time.
Replace the MAP sensor.
NO
YES
Problem verification:
1. Start the engine. Hold the
engine at 3,000 rpm with no
load (in Park or neutral) until
the radiator fan comes on, then
let it idle.
2. Check the MAP with the scan
tool.
— The MIL has been reported on.
— DTC P1129 is stored.
Replace the MAP sensor.

Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor
The scan tool indicates Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0111: A range/performance problem in the Intake Air
Temperature (IAT) Sensor circuit.
The IAT Sensor is a temperature dependant resistor (thermistor). The resistance of the thermistor decreases as the intake
air temperature increases as shown below.
— The MIL has been reported on.
— DTC P0111 is stored.
Problem verification:
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect the IAT sensor 2P
connector.
3. Remove the IAT sensor.
4. Reconnect the IAT sensor 2P
connector.
5. Leave the IAT sensor exposed
to ambient temperature.
6. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
7. Check the IAT with the scan
tool.
Is ambient temperature indicated?
YES
Check the IAT sensor output:
1. Warm the IAT sensor with a
hair dryer.
2. Check the IAT with the scan
tool.
Did the IAT rise 1.8°F (1.0°C)
or more from the ambient
temperature?

Replace the IAT sensor.
Intermittent failure, system is OK
at this time.
Replace the IAT sensor.

The scan tool indicates Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0112: A low voltage (high temperature) problem in the
Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor circuit.
— The MIL has been reported on.
— DTC P0112 is stored.
— Or from Probable Cause List.
Problem verification:
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Check the IAT with the scan
tool.
Is 302°F (150°C) or higher (or
H-Limit in Honda mode of the
PGM Tester) or 0 V indicated?
YES
Check for a short in the IAT sen-
sor:
1. Disconnect the IAT sensor 2P
connector.
2. Check the IAT with the scan
tool.
Is 302°F (150°C) or higher (or
H-Limit in Honda mode of the
PGM Tester) or 0 V indicated?
YES
Check for a short in the wire (IAT
line):
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect the PCM connec-
tor D (22P).
3. Check for continuity between
No. 2 terminal on the IAT sen-
sor 2P connector and body
ground.
Is there continuity?
NO
Substitute a known-good PCM
and recheck (see page
for
immobilizer information). If nor-
mal IAT is indicated, replace the
original PCM.
NO
Is the correct ambient temper-
ature indicated*?
Replace the IAT sensor.
YES
Intermittent failure, system is OK
at this time. Check for poor con-
nections or loose wires at C251,
C254 (located at left shock tower),
C109 (IAT sensor) and PCM.
*: If the engine is warm, it will be higher
than ambient temperature.
Replace the IAT sensor.
