1. DRAIN ENGINE OIL
a. Remove the oil filler cap.
b. Remove the oil drain plug and gasket, and drain the engine oil into a container.

2. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
a. Remove the 3 screws and 5 bolts.
b. Unhook the engine under cover from the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

the risk of your skin making contact with used engine oil. Protective
clothing and gloves that cannot be penetrated by oil should be worn.
The skin should be washed with soap and water, or use waterless
hand cleaner, to remove any used engine oil thoroughly. Do not use
gasoline, thinners, or solvents.
In order to protect the environment, used oil and used oil filters must
be disposed of at designated disposal sites.

3. REMOVE OIL FILTER ASSEMBLY
a. Using SST, remove the oil filter.

4. INSTALL OIL FILTER ASSEMBLY
a. Clean and check the oil filter installation surface.
b. Apply clean engine oil to the gasket of a new oil filter.
c. Lightly screw the oil filter into place by hand. Tighten it until the gasket contacts the seat.

d. Using SST, tighten the oil filter. Depending on the work space available, choose from the
following.
SST 09228-07501
1. If enough space is available, use a torque wrench to tighten the oil filter.
Torque: 17 N*m (173 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf)

2. If enough space is not available to use a torque wrench, tighten the oil filter a 3/4 turn by
hand or with a common wrench.
5. ADD ENGINE OIL
a. Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
Torque: 39 N*m (398 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf)
b. Add new oil.

c. Install the oil filler cap.
6. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK
a. Start the engine. Make sure that there are no oil leaks from the area that was worked on.
7. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL (see ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
8. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
a. Hook the engine under cover onto the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.
b. Install the 3 screws and 5 bolts.

5W-30 (5W-30 is the best choice for this vehicle for good fuel economy
and good starting in cold weather.)
